Our 1 µF 20 kV high voltage pulse capacitor provides high-capacity energy storage for pulsed-power systems, high-voltage switching, resonant circuits, and experimental high-voltage applications. Rated for 20 kV DC with a capacitance of 1 µF and a maximum pulse current of 100 A, this capacitor is designed for applications requiring substantial stored energy combined with rapid pulse discharge capability.
When fully charged to its rated voltage of 20 kV, the capacitor stores approximately 200 joules of electrical energy, making it well suited for high-energy pulse discharge, pulse-forming circuits, resonant experiments, high-voltage switching, and other pulsed-power systems. A low dissipation factor of ≤8 × 10-4 at 1 kHz helps reduce internal dielectric losses, while the heavy-duty M8 screw terminals provide secure, low-resistance electrical connections for high-current pulse applications.
The capacitor can also be used together with our Stacked MOSFET Switch systems to electronically control the discharge of stored high-voltage energy with very fast switching times. This makes the combination particularly useful for controlled high-voltage pulse generation, capacitor discharge systems, resonant excitation, pulsed-power research, and experimental setups requiring precise timing of high-voltage pulses.
Manufactured according to IEC 61071 and IEC 61881 reference standards, the capacitor is specified for operation across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and offers a life expectancy of up to 100,000 hours at rated voltage and 70°C. Its robust, fully encapsulated cylindrical construction provides strong electrical insulation and mechanical protection for laboratory use as well as integration into high-voltage and pulsed-power equipment.

Warning: At its rated voltage of 20 kV, this capacitor stores approximately 200 J of electrical energy. This is a potentially lethal amount of stored energy. The capacitor may retain a dangerous charge after the power source has been disconnected and should only be handled by persons experienced with high-voltage equipment. Suitable discharge, current-limiting, interlocking, insulation, and other appropriate high-voltage safety procedures must always be used.
