Engineered from the ground up, the new board minimizes gate inductance, incorporates a brand-new ultra-fast gate driver, and introduces several hardware enhancements for maximum efficiency, flexibility, and reliability. Here's how it elevates your circuitry game:

  • Ultra-Fast Switching: Our new gate driver architecture enables sub-10 ns switching transitions (MOSFET- and load-dependent), making it ideal for generating extremely sharp pulses, especially in inductive switching applications.
     
  • Optimized Low-Inductance Layout: The board has been fully redesigned to minimize gate-loop inductance, enabling cleaner, faster, and more stable high-speed switching.
     
  • TO-247-4 Socket – Zero-Hassle MOSFET Swapping: Replace MOSFETs in seconds. No screws, no soldering—simply slide the TO-247-4 device in and out of the precision socket.
     
  • Isolated Gate Driver: Featuring an isolated gate driver with its own onboard DC-DC converter, the board’s driver supply remains electrically independent. This allows the MOSFET to operate at potentials up to 2300 V above (or below) the control electronics while you control it using a standard function generator or MCU.
     
  • High-Side or Low-Side Switching: Flexible architecture allows for both switching modes depending on your application requirements.
     
  • 3.3V & 5V Logic Compatible: Directly interface the board with any microcontroller or digital logic system. No level shifting required.
     
  • Built-In Fuse Protection: An onboard fuse provides additional safety in the event of an overcurrent or overvoltage incident, protecting both the MOSFET and driver circuitry.
     
  • Fan Support for High-Speed Operation: Includes a 12V fan output via an XH2.54 connector and a 2-port screw terminal. For prolonged operation above 1 MHz, we recommend the optional 12 V Auxiliary Fan, which plugs directly into the board and provides effective airflow over both the MOSFET and the PCB.
     
  • Selectable 50-Ohm Input Termination: Ensures proper impedance matching when using 50-ohm signal systems.
     
  • High-Frequency Performance: The new board handles well above 1 MHz switching. We have tested it at 3 MHz and beyond depending on MOSFET gate capacitance and overall system conditions.
     
  • MOSFET Connectivity: The MOSFET’s drain and source terminals use high-current screw terminals rated for AWG10 wire, ensuring robust power transfer.
     
  • Power Requirements: Powered from a standard 12V supply or battery. Includes reverse polarity protection.
     
  • BNC Connection for Ease: Provides quick, secure connectivity to signal generators and instrumentation.
     
  • Input Signal Specifications: Accepts 0–5V or 0–3.3V square-wave logic signals (into 50 ohm when selected). Avoid applying negative voltages to the input.

For users operating at extreme switching frequencies or sustained high load conditions, we also offer an optional top-mount fan stand as an accessory to this board. The stand positions our 12 V, 80 mm auxiliary cooling fan above the MOSFET switch board and directs airflow downward onto the components that dissipate the most heat during high-frequency operation, including the MOSFETs themselves. This cooling approach significantly increases the achievable continuous operating envelope and helps prevent thermal shutdown during demanding use cases. Both the top-mount fan stand and the 12 V, 80 mm auxiliary cooling fan are available as optional extras and are compatible with all of our MOSFET switch boards.

TO-247-4 / TO-247-4L package support:
TO-247-4 and TO-247-4L are widely used terms for the same four-lead TO-247 power package that includes a dedicated Kelvin source (sense) connection. These designations are often used interchangeably by different semiconductor manufacturers. This product supports both TO-247-4 and TO-247-4L MOSFETs and IGBTs.

The additional Kelvin source/emitter pin provides a low-inductance reference point for the gate driver, separate from the main current path. This minimizes source/emitter voltage modulation caused by high di/dt currents, leading to improved gate signal integrity, faster switching behavior, reduced overshoot and ringing, and lower switching losses in high-frequency or high-power applications.

Standard MOSFETs block current in only one direction due to the body diode's reverse conduction. For AC applications requiring bidirectional current blocking, our Bidirectional MOSFET Switch is the ideal solution.

This product includes a heat sink for TO-247 MOSFETs and a BNC-to-hookup wire adapter for easy connection to a Microcontroller Unit (MCU).
