Designed for reliable operation in demanding high-voltage circuits, the 75kV, 50W High Voltage Resistor provides accurate current control, stable performance, and dependable voltage handling. Offered in resistance values ranging from 1MΩ to 100MΩ, it is suitable for high-voltage divider networks, capacitor charging and discharge circuits, bleeder resistors, voltage balancing, low-current limiting, and high-impedance loads.

A durable glass glaze resistive element provides excellent stability under demanding electrical conditions. The resistor also features a low-inductance construction, helping to reduce parasitic ringing, voltage overshoot, and other unwanted transient effects that may occur when conventional wirewound resistors are used in fast high-voltage circuits.

Its low-inductance characteristics make this high voltage resistor particularly useful in pulse generators, capacitor banks, pulse modulators, MOSFET switching circuits, stacked MOSFET systems, and laboratory test equipment. It can be incorporated into grading networks, static voltage-balancing circuits, snubber arrangements, damping networks, and other applications where predictable resistor behaviour is important during rapid voltage transitions.

In capacitor-based systems, the resistor can be used to limit charging current, provide a controlled discharge path, or safely bleed residual voltage after the power supply has been switched off. Depending on the selected resistance value, it can also function as a high-impedance load or help establish a defined electrical potential across floating sections of a high-voltage circuit.

With a maximum voltage rating of 75kV and a power rating of 50W, the resistor is suitable for demanding high-voltage equipment while maintaining a compact form factor. Typical applications include high-voltage power supplies, electrostatic equipment, X-ray systems, scientific instruments, plasma equipment, insulation testing, pulse experiments, and research circuits requiring reliable voltage distribution or low-current control.

The resistor can also be combined with other precision resistors to create high-voltage measurement dividers. When a suitable resistor ratio, voltage rating, insulation arrangement, and measurement instrument are used, the network can reduce high voltages to a level that can be monitored safely by an oscilloscope, voltmeter, data-acquisition system, or control circuit.

For applications involving repeated pulses or stored capacitor energy, both the instantaneous pulse load and the average power dissipation must remain within the resistor’s permitted operating limits. In continuous operation, the applied voltage must not exceed either the 75kV maximum voltage rating or the voltage determined by the resistor value and its 50W power rating.

Whether used as a bleeder resistor, capacitor charging resistor, voltage-balancing component, high-impedance load, or part of an HV measurement divider, this resistor offers a robust solution for controlled voltage and current management in demanding high-voltage systems.

Complete technical information, including resistance options, maximum operating voltage, rated power, tolerance, temperature coefficient, physical dimensions, and operating temperature range, can be found under the Specification tab on this product page.

Available resistance values are 1 MΩ, 1.5 MΩ, 2.2 MΩ, 3.3 MΩ, 4.7 MΩ, 6.8 MΩ, 10 MΩ, 47 MΩ, and 100 MΩ. This selection makes it possible to choose an appropriate value for capacitor charging and discharging, voltage divider networks, bleeder circuits, voltage grading, low-current limiting, high-voltage measurement, and circuit protection.
