Available Options

Designed for compact high-voltage circuits requiring accurate resistance, controlled current flow, and dependable pulse performance, this non-inductive 25kV, 5W High Voltage Resistor is available in values from 100kΩ to 10MΩ. Typical applications include current limiting, capacitor charging and discharging, voltage dividers, bleeder circuits, voltage grading, bias networks, pulse damping, and protection of sensitive high-voltage components.

A robust glass glaze resistive element provides stable operation under demanding electrical conditions. Its low-inductance, low-parasitic construction helps minimise ringing, voltage overshoot, and waveform distortion compared with conventional wirewound resistors, making it suitable for pulse generators, semiconductor switching circuits, capacitor discharge systems, and laboratory HV equipment.

Each resistor has a tight resistance tolerance of ±1%, providing improved accuracy and consistency in precision voltage dividers, high-voltage feedback circuits, monitoring networks, matched resistor strings, and static voltage-grading arrangements. A narrower tolerance helps maintain predictable divider ratios, circuit bias, and voltage distribution between series-connected components.

Lower resistance values, such as 100kΩ to 680kΩ, are particularly useful for stronger current limiting, faster capacitor charging or discharge, pulse damping, and defined biasing. Values from 1MΩ to 10MΩ provide lower current consumption and reduced loading, making them suitable for bleeder networks, voltage sensing, HV measurement, feedback circuits, and controlled capacitor discharge.

The stated 5W rating refers to the permitted average or continuous power dissipation under the specified operating conditions. During short pulses, the resistor may withstand instantaneous power levels many times higher—potentially several tens of times the continuous rating—depending on pulse duration, repetition rate, duty cycle, peak energy, cooling, and the applicable pulse-load limits. The average power and repetitive pulse energy must always remain within the permitted ratings.

Unlike the average power rating, the 25kV maximum voltage rating is an absolute limit and must not be exceeded, even during brief pulses. The applied voltage must also remain below the value permitted by the resistance and power dissipation, calculated using P = V²/R. Lower resistance values may therefore reach the 5W average-power limit at voltages well below 25kV.

Typical uses include high-voltage DC power supplies, MOSFET switching circuits, insulation testers, electrostatic equipment, scientific instruments, plasma experiments, pulse systems, measurement circuits, and voltage-monitoring networks. Fast voltage-grading applications may additionally require capacitive or RC grading to compensate for stray capacitance and dynamic voltage imbalance.

Detailed product information, including available resistance values, maximum voltage, average power rating, tolerance, temperature coefficient, dimensions, lead specifications, derating requirements, and operating temperature range, is provided under the Specification tab on this product page.
