Available Options

Designed for precision high-voltage circuits requiring stable resistance and minimal loading of the connected source, this non-inductive 55kV, 15W High Voltage Resistor is available in values from 10MΩ to 1GΩ. Typical applications include precision voltage dividers, HV measurement probes, bleeder networks, capacitor discharge paths, voltage grading, electrostatic equipment, feedback circuits, and high-impedance monitoring systems.

A durable glass glaze resistive element provides reliable performance under demanding electrical conditions. Its low-inductance, low-parasitic construction helps minimise ringing, transient overshoot, and waveform distortion compared with conventional wirewound resistors, making it suitable for measurement systems, pulse circuits, and fast-changing high-voltage signals.

Each resistor has a tight resistance tolerance of ±1%, providing accurate and repeatable performance in calibrated voltage dividers, HV probes, feedback networks, matched resistor strings, and static voltage-grading circuits. The narrow tolerance helps maintain predictable divider ratios, measurement accuracy, circuit bias, and voltage distribution between series-connected components.

Values from 10MΩ to 68MΩ are suitable where higher divider current, faster capacitor discharge, or a more firmly defined bias is required. Higher values from 100MΩ to 1GΩ draw significantly less current, making them well suited to electrostatic sensing, ultra-high-impedance measurement, low-loading voltage monitoring, and slow bleeder or discharge networks.

The stated 15W rating refers to the permitted average or continuous power dissipation under the specified operating conditions. During short pulses, the resistor may withstand instantaneous power levels many times higher—potentially several tens of times the average rating—depending on pulse duration, repetition rate, duty cycle, peak energy, cooling, and the applicable pulse-load limits. Average power and repetitive pulse energy must always remain within the permitted specifications.

Unlike the average power rating, the 55kV maximum voltage rating is an absolute limit and must not be exceeded, even during brief pulses. The applied voltage must also remain below the level permitted by the resistance value and average power dissipation, calculated using P = V²/R. Some resistance values may therefore reach the 15W power limit before the full 55kV voltage rating is reached.

In capacitor-based equipment, the resistor can provide a predictable discharge path that removes stored charge after power is disconnected. It may also be used as a bleeder across high-voltage outputs, helping prevent capacitors and exposed terminals from remaining at a floating or hazardous potential. The selected resistance determines discharge time, leakage current, circuit loading, and average power loss.

Typical applications include high-voltage DC power supplies, X-ray equipment, electrostatic generators and precipitators, ionisers, insulation testers, scientific instruments, particle detectors, laboratory measurement systems, and voltage-monitoring networks. Series-connected resistors may also be used for voltage grading, although fast-switching circuits may require additional capacitive or RC grading to control dynamic voltage distribution.
