Take your high-voltage experiments to the next level with our DC Flyback Transformer. Designed to produce over 30kV of positive DC voltage, this transformer is perfect for electrostatics or pulse experiments requiring positive voltage. When paired with our Half-Bridge Amplifier boards, it can deliver extraordinarily powerful pulses at frequencies up to 100kHz. With a maximum output capacity of around 300W, this transformer is built for performance but remember to monitor for excessive heat during heavy loads to prevent damage.
Additionally, if you purchase this transformer together with one of our Half-Bridge Amplifiers, it comes with a convenience feature – a wire prewound 4 turns around the core. This allows for easy connection to the monitor port of the Half-Bridge, enabling real-time monitoring of the magnetic field in the core under load. This feature adds a layer of insight and control to your high-voltage experimentation, making the Flyback Transformer (DC) a valuable addition to any advanced electronic setup.
The secondary coil in this transformer is internally connected to the primary winding, much like in an automotive ignition coil. Because of this internal connection, the transformer can only output positive DC voltage with respect to ground. If you're looking for more flexibility in your setup—including the ability to reverse output polarity or use a floating reference—we recommend choosing our 25kV AC Flyback Transformer. Important Safety Note: Ensure a solid ground connection for your driving board, as this transformer is potent and can easily cause harm to your equipment if it drifts too far from ground level. Additionally, the high-voltage (HV) output wire is rated for 20kV. If you intend to operate the transformer at its maximum output of 30kV, you must ensure sufficient distance between the HV output wire and any surrounding objects or materials to prevent arcing or insulation breakdown. Always adhere to high-voltage handling guidelines and maintain proper safety precautions.
