Discover the realm of advanced electrical experimentation with our HVGD-30 high voltage generator. Taking a significant leap from the 10kV model, this generator is designed to handle an impressive 30kV DC output, adjustable to suit a wide range of high-intensity experimental needs. With a robust 200W output and a current capacity of up to 10mA, it's perfectly equipped for challenging high-voltage tasks.
Crafted for both performance and safety, the generator includes a built-in fan for efficient thermal management, ensuring it stays cool even during extended use. It's specifically engineered to produce both positive and negative voltages, enhancing the flexibility of your experimental setups. Unique to this model is an adjustable spark-over protection function that monitors the current flowing through the system. When a spark or plasma channel is established, the current will usually increase significantly. The protection adjustment knob is therefore used to set the expected steady-state operating current threshold. If the current rises above the preset threshold, the unit automatically cycles the output power with an interval of approximately half a second, giving the spark enough time to extinguish before normal operation resumes. The protection function can also be disabled for experiments where spark generation is key.
Equipped with a user-friendly front-facing on/off switch, this generator streamlines operation for a range of high-voltage applications. It's adept at charging high voltage capacitors and creating intense sparks, making it an excellent choice for electrostatic experiments. Additionally, its reliable performance is well-suited for studies involving static electricity, offering versatility for various scientific explorations and high voltage processes.
We also offer an optional version with TTL signal input through a BNC connector, allowing the high-voltage output to be switched on and off using a 3.3V or 5V logic signal. This enables significantly faster output switching compared with using the front panel power switch and allows programmatic control from an MCU, PLC, signal generator, or similar control system. The TTL-enabled version can generate high-voltage pulses as short as approximately 300 µs, with repetition frequencies up to 1 kHz.
Both the standard version and the TTL input version can also be easily modified so that the output voltage and protection threshold can be adjusted using a 0-5V control signal. This makes the unit suitable for integration into automated test systems, MCU-controlled setups, PLC-controlled systems, and other externally controlled high-voltage applications. Like our 10kV model, the 30kV generator is delivered without a wall socket plug, providing you the flexibility to fit an appropriate adapter for your local standards or to integrate it into your existing lab power setup.
Important operating notes: This is an unregulated DC high-voltage power supply. Maximum output voltage is measured under no-load / very light-load conditions using a 1000 MΩ high-voltage probe. Output voltage decreases as load current increases, and the actual operating point depends on the connected load, input voltage, and internal conversion characteristics.
Maximum voltage, maximum current, and maximum power are separate ratings and should not be expected at the same time. Maximum output power is typically achieved when the load impedance is reasonably matched to the supply output characteristics, which is commonly in the range of approximately 1 MΩ to 10 MΩ depending on the specific unit and operating conditions. For the TTL input version, the TTL input is pulled low by default, meaning the high-voltage output remains off when the TTL input is left unconnected. For normal continuous-output operation on the TTL-enabled version, the TTL input must therefore be driven high using a 3.3V or 5V logic signal.
